Sundance Mountain Resort and Nearby Real Estate
Sundance Resort, located northeast of Provo, Utah, is a year-round ski resort on the slopes of the beautiful Mount Timpanogos. The site has been used for skiing since 1944, and in the 1950s, a family of Scottish immigrants opened a small ski resort called Timphaven. In 1969, actor Robert Redford purchased the resort and opened Sundance, named after his character in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Sundance Resort later spawned the Sundance Film Festival and the Sundance Institute in Park City, Utah.
As a year-round resort, Sundance Resort offers a myriad of amenities to patrons. In the winter, guests can ski and snowboard on the resort's perfectly groomed slopes, cross-country ski or snowshoe at the Sundance Nordic Center, embark on a winter fly-fishing excursion on the nearby Provo River, and much more. Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, river rafting, and more. At any time of the year, patrons may stay in one of Sundance Resort's luxurious lodges, dine at one of the resort's elegant restaurants, or receive a world-class pampering at the Spa at Sundance.
Sundance Resort features three chairlifts, one handle tow for beginners, and 42 runs of varying difficulty spread across more than 450 acres of skiable area.
